go ahead - eat me
She must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate,
from the palate to the finger's end.
Walter Savage Landor
The insightful and enquiring mind of my friend Diogenes at The Fine Art of Blogging - Quasi Fictional Views recently posed a pertinent and probing question.
"My dear Domestic Minx," he prodded, "Why is it that you blog?
What is it that drives you to serve a plateful of your eviscerated entrails to your loyal readers, almost every day?"
The answer was simple.
The evisceration process enthralls me.
My entrails enchant me.
The convoluted culinary process involved in presenting them as cuisine captivates me.
So I concoct, I create, I convey...
I prepare a meal. For you, dear reader.
Please pull up a chair...
And eat me.
Bon Appetit
Step into my parlour, please, and allow me to offer you something tasty and delectable, something I have prepared for you myself.
Oh, I do hope you find it delicious, for I cook from the heart, my menu instinctive, intuitive, filled with secret ingredients and my own special sauce.
There is no set recipe here, for it is the very essence of me that I prepare for your pleasure. And, like all seasoned cooks, I do so like to make it up as I go along, my sifting and splashing, stirring and melding all a delicious alchemy, a wonderful misch masch of creative cuisine.
Yes, writing is my primal pleasure and as necessary to me as food to a hungry man.
I love to write, to create, to express in the way that I might create a dish delicious.
While this nourishes and satisfies my soul, it is my deepest desire to have my offerings tasted and enjoyed, nurturing others in the most delectable way.
There is nothing more delightful than evoking the licking of lips, the closing of eyes, the murmured blessings of brava brava, bellissima from a satisfied customer.
Of this I am certain. For this deep dark pleasure is the reason I write.
My bon appetit. My joie de vivre. My raison d'etre.
I want to be tasted and I want to be enjoyed.
I want to elicit delight on the deep and primal level that a bowl of mousse au chocolat might.
It is my pleasure to fill each plate with rapture, surprise, sugar, spice, warmth and wonder.
And most of all, I want the plate licked clean.
With cries for "More!"
I think this is why keeping my dysfunctional diary is such a delicious diversion.
While I am supposed to be concentrating on the five course meal that is the writing of my book, I find myself pulled to the intoxicating promise of delightful immediacy, interaction and involvement with my dear readers that pull up a chair to taste my latest creative offerings.
I can be le plat du jour!
And I do so love it when there are compliments to the chef!!
For my heart and soul are in each dish, each ingredient drawn from my imagination,
my experience, my dreams and desires.
Oh and there is plenty on the menu for those that are hungry.
There is a veritable smorgasbord. From tempters through to dessert.
I only hope, in all it's ripe and saucy richness, that it does not leave you with indigestion! Hic!

I could eat you twelve times a day without getting indigestion, Minx. You are an artiste of the written word.
Darling Maisha,
I admit I am better at cooking up the written word than I am the actual food, I'm afraid, although I do love winter cooking....ahh, comfort food...
I do hope your Mum is ok...I am sending her my love

12 times!!
I am exhausted, most deliciously, just thinking about it!!

Five-course gourmet meals are wonderful, but there is something to be said for immediate gratification as well. Minx, I devour your luscious offerings and come back time & again begging for more..more..more!
Rapunzel..who is licking her lips in anticipation of the next meal...
Oh, Rapunzel, what a delight to have you in my parlour, you delicious little thing!!
Makes me want to whip up something dark and delectable for the Winter Solstice...

Madame Minx.
I have just returned from La belle France where I have eaten like a true gourmand!
One should live to eat not eat to live.
But the art of love is like a fine meal is it not?
I do like a nibble of something naughty but nice, tempting and tantalisingly tangy.
A kiss of the lips as an hors d'ouvres,
A lick ot he lips as an entre and something scrumptious and envloping for the main course.
Cream pies for afters?
What a naughty menu
Sounds perfectly scrumptious, Norman xx
You sound like a man who appreciates his culinary adventures...
I am obscenely jealous of your sojourn in La belle France!!
You know how much I LOVE France and la cuisine française.
Ahhh, I will console myself with another glass of vin rouge and prepare to live vicariously through your adventures.
Until I return!
Sacre Bleu!!!
Au revoir darling!
xx
Dear Minx, your wonderful creations are delightful! I come away from your blog feeling as satisfied as a kitten after lapping up a bowl full of cream :) love this blog!
Minx is absolutely one of my favorite dishes.
Its good when its hot, its excellent when its cold, and its fabulous at room temperature.
Its a great cure for hangovers, erectile dysfunction, and a general case of the blues.
I'm definitely on a Minx diet - more entrails, please!
"I want the plate licked clean. With cries for "More!"...
MORE PLEASE.
I think Gorilla Bananas and Kitty said it best.
Better than delicious.
"I want to elicit delight on the deep and primal level that a bowl of mousse au chocolat might"
uou do! you do! you do! and it doesn't put a oz on my hips, which makes it all the more delectable.
Darling Lady Terri,
Now I feel like the cat that has licked the cream!
Serving the feast is all my pleasure.

Darling Meleah!!
There will be more...
More! More! More!
Until there is bursting at the seams...
and engorgement...
I will try to avoid anything that induces flatulence...
xx
Oh Jafabrit,
Eating on a figurative level is so delicious when there are no horrid side effects - hips, for example.
Smother yourself in my metaphorical mousse darling.
It won't hurt a bit!!
xx
Don't you love to be LOVED!
And how you are loved. :)
Bring it on lovely Minx, I'll have the full degustation menu no matter the consequence.
Adoringly. x
Oh I do indeed, Michelle!
To be relished and enjoyed is simply wonderful.
There is nothing more rewarding than a satisfied customer.
Their coffee, indeed their dessert, shall be on the house!!!
