badass
June 10 Today is my 100th Post!
I am celebrating of course, but it will not be champagne that pops my cork today,
dear reader.
Join me in something dark, delectable and dangerous instead...
For it is official.
I am a BadAss.
Yes, I'm a wicked, saucy, naughty minx who likes to call it like it is.
I'll even call it something else if I want to. Something more delicious...
because I'm bad like that.
And now it's endorsed.
I'm a BadAss and proud of it.
But you already knew that, didn't you, dear reader?
Now, thanks to the very BadAss Christina of Paris Romance I am certified.
And I have The Utimate Prize for my minxy mantlepiece.
It is, I must say, an honour to receive an award from such an intelligent and honest writer, not only because she is so deliciously true to herself, the genuine article,
but because she is a bold, brilliant and beautiful BadAss herself.
It takes one to know one, doesn't it...
And I do love being Bad...
Don't you?
While I consider it entirely normal
to charm and manipulate
in the pursuit of my goals,
the essence of Being Bad
is something much, much more...
more diabolically
decadent,
more dangerously
devilish,
more divinely
delicious.
And so disturbingly
second nature
to most of us...
The allure of the Bad Girl
is immortal and insidious.
From the earliest times,
both men and women
have been beguiled by images of our earliest femmes fatales,
Lilith, Delilah, the Sirens and that wicked little vixen, Salome,
so feverishly described below...
No longer was she merely the dancing-girl who extorts a cry of lust and concupisence from an old man by the lascivious contortions of her body; who breaks the will, masters the mind of a King by the spectacle of her quivering bosoms, heaving belly and tossing thighs; she was now revealed in a sense as the symbolic incarnation of world-old Vice, the goddess of immortal Hysteria, the Curse of Beauty supreme above all other beauties by the cataleptic spasm that stirs her flesh and steels her muscles, - a monstrous Beast of the Apocalypse, indifferent, irresponsible, insensible, poisoning.
Ooh my, that was feverish indeed! What a little minx!
From time immemorial bad girls have achieved their wicked purpose through the exercise of their feminine wiles, unrepentently resorting to villainy when necessary.
And so often it is necessary.
This is never so obvious as in the film noir genre where the femme fatale is most enigmatically and beguilingly portrayed.
Employing her feminine wiles and sexual allure, the femme fatale, the vamp (sexual vampire) achieves her hidden purpose by tantalizing her lover, tempting yet denying him to the point of obsession and exhaustion, draining him of his will and resolve so that he is incapable of making rational decisions.
She is, quite literally, the kiss of death.
Vamps such as the irresistible Rita Hayworth in Gilda and Jane Greer in Out of the Past are perfectly potent examples of the femme fatale in the dark and shadowy world of noir where, of course, the femme fatale is most at home. In the richly tortuous and convoluted beguilement of the dark, secrets lie and agendas are best hidden.
For the truly bad girl there is always an agenda, it is invariably convoluted and hidden, and any vamp worth her Agent Provocateurs is conniving, cunning and calculating in fulfilling it.
She's a clever little girl and she's always a hop, skip, and a jump ahead.
But while the femme fatale is dark, deceptive and delirious, she is undeniably dangerous.
She is a Bad Girl on Acid.
Her allure is intoxicating and poisonous,
her fascination feverish and familiar.
She is a walk on the wild side,
a walk we all take...
Oh, how she has wandered into our fantasies, wanton and wild,
a temptress, tantalizing and toxic.
She is the bewitchment in our boudoir,
the fever in our fantasies...
Yet, diluted a little, just a little,
she is decadent, darling and delicious.
Why, she is a Minx!
And she knows, she appreciates, the Beauty of Bad.
For Bad is the new Good.
And it is good.
Very good...
So join me, dear reader, in a drop of the dark stuff!
Let's drink to the Good and the Bad,
the Light and the Dark,
the Nice and the Noir...
For what good is one without the other!
Cheers!!

Thank you so much Christina,
Being a woman affords us so much leeway, doesn't it.
There is a particular joy in being naughty.
I especially love being a wolf in sheep's clothing...
Being nice - when I'm not.
That, I feel, is the most delicious delusion...
